Development & Documentation

Admittedly, making a blog has always felt both intimidating and gratuitous. There is a loud voice in my head dissuading me from sharing my work or claiming space in any public capacity. I cannot fully explain it; it is a knee-jerk, hand-on-burner revulsion to claiming space, possibly out of fear of falling backwards into arrogance. For whatever reason, the line between humility and narcissism presses on a razor’s edge with how I view myself, likely distant from how I am perceived by others. Already, the metal tin can mental malaise is gasping open.

I have not been approaching it from the right angle, maybe.

I am currently working on some projects. While the ‘value’ of them is constantly pummeled in my head, I do have a desire to express my process of animating, designing, and writing. In these developments and iterations, my desire is not to create content but instead to document. When one of these projects is finished, it will likely be helpful to have a tangible space to revisit them when they were works-in-progress. Or, if eventually abandoned or morphed into something else, it might be nice to at least have a tangible headstone for these ideas that I’m certain at some point felt the pulse of potential.

I feel good about this being a small, personal space— documenting a sincere playground without sincere expectations. Here I’ll share whatever it is I’m working on that I feel an urge to document: animations, music, visual design, etc.

With love,
May
